It’s more than color

Sustainable, green, eco-friendly design practices continue to push the forefront of design and Pantone has taken notice this year with it’s salute to the environment choosing Greenery as it’s color of 2017. Laurie Pressman, the Pantone Color Institute’s vice president told FORBES, “There’s a growing desire to reconnect with nature and what is real, and find ways to disconnect from technology. We need a break. We need to stop and breathe. Greenery is about unity and community—connecting to oneself and others and a higher purpose, Nature.”

Green stands for balance, nature, spring, and rebirth. It is the symbol of prosperity, freshness, and progress. Studies show that your muscles are more relaxed, your pituitary gland is stimulated, and your blood histamine levels increase in the presence of green. Used in interior decorating it is calming, stress-relieving, and invigorating.

Use it in lighting

The hint of green brought out in the lighting with the use of crystals adds just the right amount of color to this room. We love how it is paired with the gold in the fixture and how it accents the pattern of the chairs.

Dorothy Draper

Way ahead of her time, Dorothy Draper used green to accent the wall in this arcade of arches.
